What inspires you about being a business owner?
WHAT WAS THE CATALYST FOR YOU TO OPEN YOUR BUSINESS?

I created my business around the black maternal mortality rate crisis in our country. My inspiration behind running a doula business is that I can hopefully bring about change through my work, because black women are more likely to have better birth outcomes with a doula.
What is a struggle you overcame?
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR BETTIES WHO MAY BE GOING THROUGH A SIMILAR SITUATION?
I have struggled with severe mental health issues for all of my life. I finally seemed out professional health and have turned my mental health around. I no longer am suffering and now have a solid support system in place. My advice to Betties who may be going through the same this is SEEK OUT HELP! This isn’t a battle you should have to face on your own. You deserve to feel happy and there should be no shame in meeting with healthcare providers to seek appropriate treatment.
what is one way you enjoy taking care of yourself outside of your business?
I love to take dance classes in my free time as a form of self care! It’s a time where I can really express myself and enjoy myself.
How do you currently help the local community?
My business works to support not only the black community that it was created for, but to help all birthers in the Denver and surrounding areas throughout their labors and births. I want to provide care for anyone no matter their financial background, hopefully to help create more accessibility to birth support.
